Installation Project: Distributed Fault Location and Monitoring System Installation Case Study
Project Date: July 20, 2026
Project Contractor: Dingxin Smart Technology Co., Ltd.
Based on distributed traveling-wave distance measurement technology, multiple sets of high-precision monitoring terminals are deployed along the power line to capture traveling-wave signals generated by faults in real time and synchronize their timing. By analyzing the time differences in the arrival of traveling waves at each monitoring point, the system accurately calculates the fault location, with a distance measurement error controlled to within the order of hundreds of meters. This device is unaffected by system operating modes or ground resistance and can quickly identify typical fault types such as lightning strikes, tree obstructions, and external damage. The location results are visually displayed using a geographic information system (GIS), significantly reducing fault patrol time and enhancing power supply reliability. This makes it an indispensable sensing tool for smart grid operation and maintenance.
