Operations and maintenance personnel on front-line power transmission lines frequently encounter the challenge of external damage caused by crane operations: even though high-voltage warning signs are clearly posted, some workers still take chances and perform lifting operations near high-voltage power lines. It’s not just cranes; tower cranes, construction machinery, excavators, and dump trucks operating under or near high-voltage lines are all major sources of external damage risks. To address the risks associated with vehicles operating near high-voltage lines, Dingxin Smart Technology has launched the DX-JDS100High-Voltage Electric Shock Prevention and Proximity Alarm, which uses electric field sensing technology to automatically trigger an alarm when approaching high-voltage lines, adding an active safety barrier to crane operations. The DX-JDS100 is an electric field-sensing proximity warning device primarily used for large construction machinery, such as cranes, when operating near high-voltage power lines. It provides proactive proximity alerts for high-voltage electric fields and serves as safety equipment to protect power transmission corridors from external damage.

The complete system consists of two parts: a front-end electric field detection unit and a cab-mounted early warning receiver unit. The detection unit is mounted on the boom, while the receiver unit is located in the crane cab.
1. Precise Early Warning via Electric Field Detection: The system allows for the presetting of specific voltage levels and safety alert distances. When the front-end sensor detects a high-voltage electric field signal, it immediately transmits the information via 2.4 GHz wireless communication to the warning control unit in the cab. The control unit then issues a voice alert stating, “High voltage danger—do not approach,” prompting the operator to retract the boom promptly and maintain a safe operating distance.
2. Stable and Reliable Wireless Transmission: Utilizes 2.4 GHz wireless communication with an unobstructed communication range of ≥200 m. Signal transmission remains stable even when the boom is extended, ensuring uninterrupted early warnings.
3. Compatibility with Multiple Voltage Levels: Supports voltage levels of 10 kV, 35 kV, 110 kV, 220 kV, and higher, meeting the safety requirements for hoisting operations near all types of transmission lines.
4. Flexible and Reusable Deployment: The sensor unit features a strong magnetic attachment and can also be secured with wire ties; no complex tools are required for installation. The device supports rotation among multiple cranes, reducing project procurement costs.

Practical Value
Many construction crews believe they are safe as long as they do not come into direct contact with power lines, relying solely on visual estimates to determine a safe distance. However, the swaying of cranes during high-altitude lifting, the lifting of robotic arms, and vehicle drifts can often cause them to cross the safety threshold in an instant. Traditional high-voltage warning signs can only provide passive reminders and rely heavily on drivers’ visual judgment of distance. The DX-JDS100 is an active proximity-to-power-lines warning device that detects high-voltage lines through electric field sensing. Unaffected by obstructed lines of sight, it effectively addresses visual blind spots during vehicle operations, enabling early risk warnings and reducing power transmission line damage caused by accidental contact between crane booms and power lines.
